Brett Butler is the younger brother of Ken Butler III. He was born on April 10, 1985, and was a star wrestler for Parkview High school in Lilburn, Georgia.

He started his racing career in go-kart in 2000. He then moved on to Aaron’s Pro Challenge at the age of eighteen. The Aaron’s Pro Challenge is a program developed mainly in order to develop new drivers. During this time, Brett Butler finished in the top ten 22 times. Then at the age of 20, Brett started competing part time at the Dodge Weekly Racing Series in Hickory, North Carolina.

After cutting his teeth at these smaller events, Brett was signed by Michael Waltrip in the driver development program. Under Waltrip’s direction, he began racing in the Hooter’s USAR Pro Cup Series. Although he was an extremely popular driver, he saw remarkably little success and a year later return ed to the Pro Cup series races.

In 2009, Brett advanced to driving for Rick Ware in the brand new Truck Series. He won the Truck Race at Daytona International Speedway. However, Brett would not experience any more success during the season. He then ran one race during 2010. This race occurred at Darlington Raceway.
